NIFF Announces 2014 Movie Lineup

While not as well known as Cannes or Tribeca, the Nantucket International Film Festival, which celebrates screenwriters’ contributions to the art of film making, has become quite a draw for cinephiles and celebs over its nearly 20 year history. This week, the 19th annual NIFF announced its 2014 lineup. Featuring movies like the Kristin Wiig dark comedy The Skeleton Twins, the sci-fi/romance I Origins, and the latest from Richard Linklater, Boyhood. The event kicks off June 25 with a screening of Disney/Pixar short films.

NIFF was established in 1996 by Jill and Johnathan Burkhart, with the intent of spotlighting screenwriters’ work in filmmaking, from short films, to features, to documentaries. At this year’s event, popular screenwriter Aaron Sorkin will be honored with the Screenwriter Tribute Award.

Attendees should also be on the lookout for this year’s All-Star Comedy Round Table event, presented by Ben Stiller. While the participants have not yet been named for this year’s outing, past Round Tables have included the likes of Mike Myers, Jim Carrey, Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld.
