The 2010 World Cup was a complete mess, tourism-wise. Player’s and tourists’ hotel rooms were completely sacked by thieves during the international competition in South Africa and it also occurred, to some extent, during the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil. Now, with gunfire exchange between drug cartels in Rio and other major cities and getting robbed at your own hotel room, it’s safe to say that it would be best that you stay away from touristy places. So the German national team took things in to their own hands and decided to build their own hotel for the World Cup in Porto Seguro. The hotel will feature fourteen two story houses for the players and the coaching staff, along with a pool. As for their training grounds and media center it’s a five minute walk away. The airport is 45 minutes away and the flights to each city where they will be playing is under two hours. Well played Germany, well played.
